Dr. Koushik Mondal

Mr. Mondal submitted his thesis in June, 2022 and successfully defended it on July, 2022. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree at the 59th Convocation of IIT Madras, held on 13th of July, 2022.

Education:

B.Sc. : Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta.
M.Sc. : Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. Title of his thesis: Investigation of Gas-Phase Kinetics of IO, Formyl and Phenyl Radicals with C1, C2 Aliphatic Ethyl Esters and Alcohols in Tropospherically Relevant Conditions. Koushik joined our group on Jan, 2017.

Dr. Avinash Kumar

Mr. Kumar has submitted his thesis in December, 2019 and successfully defended it on April, 2020. He was awarded the "Prof. Ramamurthy Award for Best Thesis in Chemistry" for the academic year 2019-'20! Title of his thesis :"Photo-oxidation Reactions Initiated by OH Radicals and Cl atoms on Halogenated Hydrocarbons, Formates and Acrylates in the Conditions Relevant to the Earth's Atmosphere." .

Education:

M.Sc. (Chemistry):2015, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, Maharashtra.
B.Sc. (Honours Chemistry):2013, Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi.

Research interests:

Measuring the accurate kinetics for the gas-phase reactions of HFCs (Hydro Fluoro Carbons) Oxygenated Volatile Organic Compounds (OVOCs) and Hydro carbons with OH radical and Cl atoms using Pulsed Laser Photolysis (PLP)-Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF). Estimating the global warming potential (GWP) and ozone depletion potential (ODP), which are considered as indexing parameters to assess the impact of releasing compound on climate change.

He is currently working as a post-doctoral fellow at Aerosol Physics Laboratory, Tampere University, Finland with Prof. Matti Rissanen.

Dr. Parth Gupta

Mr. Gupta has submitted his thesis in December, 2019 and successfully defended it in March, 2020! .

Title of his thesis :"Atmospheric Chemistry of Hydrofluoroolefins, Esters, Alkanes, Alkenes and Aldehydes Initiated by Atmospheric Oxidizers: Kinetic & Mechanistic Aspects".

Education:

M.Sc. (Chemistry): 2015, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher learning, Prashanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthy, A.P.
B.Sc. (Chemistry Honors): 2013, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher learning, Whitefield, Bangalore.

Research interests:

Computational investigation on the reaction of relevant radicals species with dominant organics in the troposphere.

Presently, he is working as a Senior Research Scientist in R & D of Alembic Pharmeceuticals Ltd., Hyderabad.

Dr. Revathy Kaipara

Ms. Kaipara has submitted her thesis in January, 2020 and successfully defended it in May, 2020!! .

Title of her thesis :"Kinetic & Mechanistic Investigations on OH Radical, Cl Atom and Criegee (CH2OO) initiated Photo-Oxidation Reactions with Saturated and Unsaturated Esters, & Carbonyl Compounds".

Education:

M.Sc. (Chemistry): 2014, PSGCollege of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu.
B.Sc (M.P.C): 2012, St.Mary's College of Technology, Trissur, Kerela.

Research interests:

Calculating the Global warming potentials, Ozone depleting potentials, Ozone formation potentials and Atmospheric Life time of the volatile organic compounds which are releasing into the Earth's Atmosphere.

Presently, she is working as a Senior Research Scientist in the R & D of Alembic Pharmeceuticals Ltd., Hyderabad.

Dr. Kuzhanthaivelan S.

Title of his thesis :"Kinetic Investigations on the Autoignition Chemistry of Modern Oxygenated Biofuel Compounds and their Reactions with Peroxy Radicals". .

Research interests:

Kinetics of the oxidative decomposition mechanism for modern bio-fuels and fuel additives by using high level computational methods.

Calculations of Auto ignition delays for bio fuels by using computational methods. He worked briefly on a NPTEL Project under the joint supervision of Prof. B. Rajakumar and Prof. Mangala Sunder Krishnan, after his Ph.D.

Presently, Dr. Velan is working as a Research Investigator at ThinkMolecular Technologies Pvt.Ltd. , Bangalore.

Dr. Ramya C. Balan

Mrs. Ramya successfully defended her thesis on April, 2019 and recieved her degree recently in the IITM 56th convocation. .

Title of her thesis: "Cl atom and OH radical initiated photo-oxidation reaction kinetics and mechanistics of saturated, unsaturated, cyclic and non-cyclic hydrocarbons". After finishing her PhD, she has worked as a Research Associate in Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

She also worked here as an Institute Post Doctoral Fellow (IPDF), an initiative by IIT Madras.

B.Sc (M.P.C), 2006, Little Flower College Guruvayur(University of Calicut), Kerala.

Presently, Dr. Velan is working as a Research Investigator at ThinkMolecular Technologies Pvt.Ltd. , Bangalore.

Dr. Siripina Vijaya Kumar

Dr Vijay graduated from RK group in July, 2017. .

Title of his thesis:"OH radical and Cl atom initiated photo-oxidation reaction kinetics of series of unsaturated hydrocarbons".

Mr Vijay joined our group in Dec, 2013.

Past Affiliation: Working as an Assistant Professor under TEQIP-III programme in Samrat Ashok Technological Institute, Vidisha, MP.

Presently, he is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Associatein Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA, with Prof. James Anderson.

Dr. Arathala Parandaman

Dr. Parandaman has graduated from RK group in 2016. .

Title of his thesis: "Thermal decomposition studies of model biofuels, hydrochloroethers and alkyl silanes using single pulse shock tube and computational methods".

Presently, he is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Associatein Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA, with Prof. James Anderson.

Dr. Parandaman previously worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate with Prof. Amitabha Sinha, Department of Chemistry, University of California, San Diego, USA.

Dr. C. Ramanjaneyulu

Mr. Ramanjaneyulu received his Ph.D. in February, 2016. Title of his thesis was - "Atmospheric implications and reaction kinetics of emitted volatile organic compounds into the Earth's atmosphere: An experimental and computational study." . .

His research interest was::

Quantum chemical calculations on the kinetics of OH, NO3radicals and Cl atom reactions with Volatile organic compounds by using Ab initio and DFT Methods.

Calculating the rate coefficients, life times and Global Warming Potentials (GWPs) for Gas Phase reactions in the Earth's atmosphere by using Cavity Ring Down Spectrometer (CRDS) and Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) techniques.

He temporarily worked as a senior faculty in Chemistry at FIITJEE. He is deeply associated with Hare Krishna Movement at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He joined our group on July, 2011.

Dr. Srinivasulu Gonu

Dr. Gonu Srinivasulu graduated from RK group in 2015. .

Title of his thesis: "Absorption of transient species and kinetics of oxidation of fluorinated alcohols and esters in the earth's atmosphere: An experimental and computational study". After obtaining his PhD from RK Group, Dr.Gonu Srinivasulu worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate with Prof. John Crowley, Max Planck Institute (MPI), Mainz, Germany.

He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Government Degree College, Andhra Pradesh.

Dr. M. Bala Ganesh

Dr.M.Bala Ganesh has graduated from Prof R.K. group in July-2015. .

Atmospheric implications of replacement compounds to Chlorofluorocarbons and simple Bio-fuels: Experimental and computational studies.

He is currently working as a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan.

Dr. Manas Ranjan Dash

Dr.Manas has graduated from RK group in 2014. Title of his thesis: .

"Kinetics of Biogenically emitted compounds into the Earth's atmosphere with OH radicals and Cl atoms and Lower Hydrocarbons with C2H radicals: Experimental and Computational studies".

Dr.Manas Ranjan Dash recently worked as a

Post Doctoral Fellow with Prof.Y.P.Lee Group, National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. After his PhD from the RK Group, Dr. Dash also worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow in Max Planck Institute (MPI), Mainz, Germany.

He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Dr. G. Sudhakar

Dr.Sudhakar received his Ph.D. in September, 2014. .

Title of his thesis - "Thermal decomposition studies of halogenated hydrocarbons and biofuels using single pulse shock tube and computational methods."

Dr.Sudhakar is currently working as a Senior Technical Officer in Fetch Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh..

He joined our group in July, 2009.

Dr. Mohammad Akbar Ali

Dr. Akbar Ali has graduated from RK group in 2011. Title of his thesis: "Computational studies on structural and thermodynamic aspects of cyclic phenyleneacetylenes and reactions of OH radicals with Hydrofluorocarbons and Bromine oxide." .

Dr.Akbar Ali worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow with Prof.John R.Barker, University of Michigan, USA.

He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in department of Chemistry, King Faisal University, Al Hufuf, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Akbar Ali worked as an Assistant professor in the department of Chemistry, Sejong University, Seoul, South Korea.
